Entrada Golf Course Review

Familiar with the films Jeremiah Johnson or Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid?  The star actor in both films, Robert Redford, is actually a part-founder in one of Utah’s premier private golf courses, Entrada Golf Course at Snow Canyon in St. George, Utah.

Designed by legendary golfer and commentator Johnny Miller, Entrada Golf Course opened in 1996 to high acclaim and has been wowing visitors ever since.  At nearly 7,100 yards from the black tees, the golf course presents a challenge unrivaled in the region, while also providing an enjoyable experience for those with higher handicaps.

What first caught my eye about this golf course was the variety that it offered.  There are short holes and long holes, ones with doglegs to the right and to the left, and so on.  It is the type of course where you will use every club in the bag at least once.  Overall the course in kept in fantastic condition every time I have visited it, whether in the winter or in the summer.  The greens are tricky at times as one has to navigate around small slopes and valleys, but I believe it makes the course even more enjoyable to play.

As far as favorite holes go, the first that comes to mind is the par 5 ninth hole.  It has a severe dogleg to the right, and at over 600 yards from the furthest tees it provides a unique challenge that one simply cannot find anywhere else in the region.  Another great hole is the par 4 fifteenth.  At only 290 yards from the white tees it is very reachable for longer hitters, while also allowing room for those laying up to have a great chance at making birdie also.

The amenities offered at Entrada Golf Course have a modern feel to them and are led by a great service staff.  They include a sports and fitness center, a spa, a restaurant, and many more.  Kokopelli Restaurant offers some of the best views in the area with a great menu to boot.  I would especially recommend the Entrada Burger with delicious balsamic onions and chipotle aioli.

Entrada Golf Course offers a venue that will challenge the best of players while also providing a beautiful scenery that really highlights why St. George, Utah is becoming one of the top golfing destinations in the United States today.
